History: One of the world’s oldest magic club, Cambridge University Magic Society is one of Cambridge’s most active and prolific student societies.
Mission: Our mission is to shape and maintain an active community of students and academics with a passion for magic, to enhance their skills and develop new content, show formats and educational material for the promotion of the art of magic. We nurture talent, bring people together and inspire through sharing magical moments.
Events: We encourage contact between society members through numerous meetings, workshops, events, and social activities. We host regular shows for the wider Cambridge community as well as conferences open to international audiences, hosting speakers and performers from around the world. We run several initiatives to support the charities close to our hearts, organising fundraising events and performing in hospitals and community centres.
Educational Initiative: Members of the society founded the Academy of Magic & Science, an initiative which uses magic’s intrigue to create unique shows and workshops presenting scientific principles. For additional information.
Members: The Cambridge University Magic Society is a vibrant community of undergraduate students, postgraduate researchers, and academics, also welcoming university alumni and honorary members from around the globe. Membership is open to anyone at the University (currently affiliated or alumni) with a passion for magic and an interest in promoting the art of magic. The society’s membership base is growing, and our members come from a wide range of academic backgrounds and professional interests.
The Academy of Magic & Science is bridging academic knowledge to illusionists’ expertise to design, develop and deliver inspirational and innovative educational activities. The Academy of Magic & Science was founded as spin out of the CU Magic Society with the mission to implement the knowledge and skills developed through the 6,000 years of the history of magic, to inspire e and empower students, professionals, researchers and the society. We lead participants on a magical journey to find a new love for science, using magic as a springboard to explore fantastical applications of chemistry and electronics, to physiology and psychology. These sessions empower them to unlock their own creative potential and analytical thinking skills through CPD sessions and conferences.
